USGS Research Center Pump House
This project for the United States Geological Survey involved designing a small pump house for a fish research facility located near Lake Washington in Seattle. The pump house includes access doors, louvers, area for pump with concrete pads, steel stairs, CMU walls, and a standing seam metal roof. The development process included building code compliance research and review, design and specification of waterproofing systems, and production of drawings and tasks necessary to acquire a building permit. dean alan architects worked with a team of consulting engineers to expand the existing facility, ensuring that all environmental impact factors were considered. Coordinating with the Seattle Parks Department, the pump house is designed to allow operations to continue for the fish research facility during construction and to minimize costs for the agency.
